Philosophy of Music Education

I believe that the role of the music teacher is to provide opportunities for musical learning to every child. While some students excel more than others, each student has the ability to achieve personal success and fulfillment in the music classroom. It is therefore the responsibility of the teacher to teach in methods suitable to all learning styles and encourage musical learning of any kind. The music classroom should be a safe space in which students feel free to express themselves through music. The teacher should provide a wide variety of musical experiences to facilitate this, such as composition, instrumental playing, listening activities, and singing.By creating an atmosphere conducive to individual musical learning and self-expression, the music teacher provides avenues to self-discovery as a whole, as well as the development of many life skills necessary for the studentsí futures.
