Abbreviated Philosophy:

As a music educator, I want students to learn not only the names of notes and symbols for rhythm, I want to develop an appreciation for music.  What good is playing a scale or chord if we cannot appreciate it as listeners?  Connecting music to the lives of students is a more important goal than creating perfect performers.  The best lesson a teacher can give is one that allows the student to learn on their own, and WANT to learn on their own.
